When I Look Through the Lens, I See Life

This turned out to be another sentimental layout. I love it when I get to blend all the scrapbook items as well as the photos, to complement each other. :D

It's the first time that I used a quote for a long title. This was taken from Technique Tuesdays Ali Edwards stamp collection.

I used Get Picky's September sketch challenge #12:

Our family photo was taken last April 2011. Little boy looked adorable even if he wasn't looking directly at the cam. The photographer's assistant tried in vain to make him smile. Hahaha. :D

As always, I took some close-up shots to showcase the techniques I applied in creating the layout.

Layers, layers, layers!
Look at that! Lovely layers of fussy cut patterned paper,
clustered together and further accentuated with Zva Creative crystals.

Dustic Attic bodyform chipboard
painted with white acrylic paint and Golden coarse pumice gel.
Look at that texture. Love it!

Prima swirl stencil sprayed with
Ranger blue perfect pearls mist
to fill up the upper right and lower left corners.

Materials are all from Scrap That's "Romantic Spring" May 2011 kit.

Additional embellishments: Kaisercraft metal key, Creative Imaginations metal word sentiment, Shabby Green Door baker's twine, Maya Road pearl pins, Technique Tuesdays quote stamp, Webster's Pages floral whimsy, acrylic paint, coarse pumice gel.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to submit this in time for the deadline. Totally forgot about it and was soooo busy with lots of stuff. Oh well. Hahaha! :D

However, I am entering this in Scrapbookers Anonymous' various challenges for the month of September, as follows:

1. Main challenge: chipboard
2. Birthday mini-stash challenges: long title, bling-bling and stamping! Wee!!! :D

I'd like to thank Lea for posting her comment and informing me about the above challenges. :D

Lastly, this LO is totally a 101% labor of love.

'I Do'

Here's my entry to Prima's June Build-A-Page (BAP) challenge. I hope I get lucky and win. After all, who doesn't want to get their hands on a fab Prima prize? :D

This is another of my bridal photos that I made into a layout. My wedding scrapbook album will soon be full. Yay! :D

Majority of materials used on this LO are Prima-based, which are part of Scrap That's May 'Romantic Spring' kit. I re-used the packaging papers from the Mistable Canvas Sheet and Say It In Crystals with lace. Patterned papers are from Paisley Road (Bhangra), Shabby Chic (Majestic Breeze) and Strawberry Kisses collection. Musical note stamp, Say It In Crystals with Lace and all the flowers are also from Prima.

Here's the sketch on which I based my LO:

I love the beauty that Prima flowers create on a layout when you cluster them. The SIIC with lace further adds a touch of elegance.

The two butterflies and two flowers peeking from behind are from Prima's Shabby Chic (Majestic Breeze pp) line, that I found among my stash. It pays to keep all those teeny tiny bits of patterned papers!

I added a "mini version" of the main embellishment clusters. Here it is on the upper left corner, while the main embellishment clusters are located on the lower half of the LO.

Lastly, I used black chipboard alphas are from Pink Paislee for my title.

Hope you liked what I shared today. Thanks also for your comments!

Other materials used: Bazzill cardstock, Martha Stewart puncher, Ranger Liquid pearl (Peacock), journaling pen, Pink Paislee chipboard alphas.

Scrap That January Kit: Cards

After three (3) layouts, I was able to create these two cards out of my scraps from the kit.

Happily Ever After: wedding card intended for a friend who'll be married soon.

Bon Voyage: for my aunt. I'll give this to her together with a special gift when she leaves for the States.

That's it! Hope you liked what I shared today. :D

Happy Journey

UPDATE 05.05.2011: this was chosen as a Sketchy Thursdays' fave for the week's challenge. Yahoo!

---o0o---

Woohoo! Mr. Mojo's in town! I was able to create this layout on a weekday! :D

Materials used in this LO are mostly from Scrap That's January "Don't Stop the Carnival" kit, with additional stamps, inks and stickles.

I am entering this in the following challenges: Sketchy Thursdays' 4.28 sketch challenge and Scrapbookers Anonymous' May challenge to use stamps in creating a patterned paper and 3 embellishments.

First, Sketchy Thursdays' sketch on which I based this layout:

Second, the stamps challenge requirements of Scrapbookers Anonymous:

To create the stamped PP requirement, I painted the upper half of the base paper with gesso. Once dried, I used distress ink to stamp on the image. Hence, the result:

Next, the 3 stamped embellishments:

One, Prima clear stamp postcard

Two and three, the intricate frame and butterflies, also from Prima

My journaling entry: Motherhood is such a happy journey!

The photo was taken on my 38th birthday. Very sentimental message and memorable day. :D

This is also an advanced Happy Mother's Day LO... for me! Hehe! :D

Thank you. :D

Materials used: Scrap That! January kit. Others: Teresa Collins clock transparency, Martha Stewart puncher, Tim Holtz and Prima stamps, Ranger stickles, distress inks and crackle paint, alcohol ink, gesso, black journaling pen, local brads and bling.

Scrap That January Kit: A Father's Love (Part 2)

A happy scrappy Sunday to all! :)

I attended a scrapbook class yesterday. Together with my officemate, Flor, whose first time it was to attend a class, we had sooo much fun (and stress... LOL) completing a total of 4 LOs. :D

I'll feature those LOs in another post. For now, here's my 2nd creation using Scrap That's January "Don't Stop the Carnival" Kit.

That's me and my Dad in the photo, taken 6 years ago on my wedding day. :D

It's the first time that I made a "father and daughter" themed layout, so this makes it very sentimental.

Some close-ups and details:

I used Judikins Diamond Glaze once again on this die-cut frame. I first painted it with copper acrylic. Upon drying, I applied the glaze and topped the corners with stickles, both of which came from the kit.

These AC thickers foam alphas are such fun to use! :D

Black lace and pearl swirls, and butterfly from Prima. Punchers from Martha Stewart.

That's it! Have a great week ahead! :D

Scrap That January Kit: Treasure These Moments (Part 1)

Yes, I finally got to scrap again! Woohoo!

Here's my first creation out of Scrap That's January "Don't Stop The Carnival" kit. Yes, I know, I am that late! LOL.

Oh, I fell so much in love with this kit! My hands are still itching to create some more, but alas, we're going out-of-town for the long weekend.

All materials are from the kit, except the little pink flowers, Hambly transparency, corrugated board and ribbon laces.

I am also entering this in Get Picky's April Sketch Challenge #7:

Here are some close-up shots and details of the layout:

I cut out the banner and used it on this LO. I also added some ribbon flowers as accents to the bird cages.

Fussy cut this intricate design, added a butterfly, Hambly transparency and created the frilly lace on top.

I looove Judikins Diamond Glaze! I first sprayed the bodyform chipboard with glimmer mist, then topped it with the glaze. It was like watching it magically transform the chipboard!

Finally, I was so happy with the result of my clustering effort for these embellishments:

That's it! Gotta pack for tomorrow's R&R!

Thanks for the love! :)

More Cards

I came across Jingle Belles' site thru Sketchy Thursdays. I was unable to join in the fun in their Christmas card challenge as I failed to submit my cards on time. Hehehe!

Jingle Belles' mission is to make a Christmas card each and every week of 2011 thus avoiding the rush to create these holiday cards come last quarter of the year. What a nice concept, eh!

Yes, it did inspire me to use up my scraps in Scrap That!'s December "Holiday Magic" kit, as well as scraps from my stash. In one sitting I was able to create four X'mas cards! :)

Winter Magic

Merry Christmas

I added stickles on the flower centers. So loved the effect! :)

Peace

Scrap That! December Kit: Hubby & Me (Part 3)

Another LO about me and my "ex-boyfriend" with photos of our pre-nup pictorial held at a park, way back in 2005. Hahaha!

The kit's contents are Christmas-themed, but that didn't stop me from creating "out-of-the-box" and so I was able to create two non-Christmas LOs. The first one was Flower Girl.

The LO is based on Scrap That!'s January sketch below:

Here are some close-up shots and details:
I love how these alternating colored and black-and-white photos turned out! :)

It's amazing what a little gesso can do to add dimension on the LO's background:

Maya Road chipboard swirl, which I transformed by first painting it with gesso, then copper acrylic paint and Ranger clear rock candy. I also added Pink Paislee smoke dangle element and gold twine:

Absolutely love the flowers included in the kit! :)

TGIF and happy weekend! :D
